Since I heard about VAG-Fair a few years ago, I had always wanted to venture up to Maine for the event. This year, I was finally able to experience it for myself. If you like camping and Volkswagen shows, this is one you won’t want to miss next year.
My fiance and I began the trek to Maine around 4:30 on Friday afternoon. We pulled into the campground around 10:15 later that night. We set up our site, visited with a friend of mine briefly, and finally headed off to bed.
Despite the long day, I still managed to wake up at 5 the next morning in order capture some cars back-lit by the beautiful sunrise. After shooting a bit, I got a fire going for breakfast. Most of my day was spent by the fire relaxing with a few drinks as many of the show cars had not yet arrived.
When I woke up on Sunday, I had a very rude awakening when I realized that my time in Maine was coming to a close. My fiance and I broke down the campsite, got some breakfast and headed into the show field for the morning.
There were a wide variety of clean, unique air-cooled and water-cooled Volkswagen's. This event was by far one of the best experiences I have ever had at a car show.
To the staff that orchestrates VAG-Fair: thank you for everything you do to provide the community with a quality event. Don’t forget to check out their next event in York, Pennsylvania on August 11th and like @vagfair on Facebook. Thanks for reading and enjoy the photos!
